4-Day Trip to Extremadura – EXCLUSIVE SMALL-GROUP

TUESDAY 17TH NOVEMBER – DAY 1. TRIP TO TRUJILLO
Departure at 7 am from Torrox-Costa. Stop in Córdoba and arrival in Trujillo around 1.30 pm, check in and free time. After the free time we will have a guided tour in Trujillo.  The historical centre of this small town, also known as the “Cradle of the Conquistadors”, is recognised as a cultural asset of Spain.

WEDNESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER – DAY 2. CÁCERES
Departure from Trujillo and arrival in Cáceres at around 10 am. Guided tour in private for our group with a local guide from 10 am to 1 pm. The old town of Cáceres is part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1986 and is one of the jewels of Extremadura.
After the guided tour you will have free time and afterwards you will have the opportunity to visit a cheese dairy of Torta del Casar and buy this delicacy. If cheese is not your thing, you can enjoy more free time in Cáceres.
At 6 pm we want to drive back and arrive in Trujillo at about 6.45 pm.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19TH – DAY 3 – MONASTERY OF GUADALUPE AND YUSTE
Departure from Trujillo at 9.30 am and arrival at the Yuste Monastery at around 10.45 am. The importance of the Monastery of Yuste lies less in the religious than in the secular, political sphere. It was here that Charles V spent the last years of his life in seclusion after his abdication from 1556 to 1558. Born in Ghent in 1500, the Habsburg was Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire as Charles V and King of Spain as Carlos I. At about 12.30 pm we drive to Guadalupe with a stop at the German military cemetery in Cuacos de Yuste. We will also make a stop to buy the famous “Pimentón de la Vera” (peppers).
Afterwards we will arrive in Guadalupe and you will have free time to have lunch. Afterwards we will visit the monastery of Guadalupe. It was the most important monastery in the country for more than four centuries and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.
At 6 pm we drive back to Trujillo and at 7 pm we will arrive and you will have free time.

FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER – DAY 4 . MÉRIDA AND RETURN TO TORROX
At 9.30 am we drive to Mérida and at about 10.30 am we are intended to arrive in Mérida. Mérida was the city in the Roman Empire under the name Emerita Augusta, capital of the province of Lusitania. It was founded in 25 BC by Emperor Augustus as a colony for veterans of Roman legions. In the course of time numerous representative buildings were built: theatres, amphitheatres, circus, temples, bridges and aqueducts. We will have a guided tour with a local guide until 1 pm, then you will have free time to eat. At 3 pm we want to drive back and arrive in Torrox-Costa around 8.30 pm.
