Visiting Comares is a must if you are staying in la Axarquia or nearby.
In this tour, you will discover the interesting history of this special village and also of La Zorrilla, a hidden but lovely small hamlet that was abandoned for several years but nowadays is a small paradise.
Comares, also known as “El Balcón de la Axarquía” (the Balcony of la Axarquia) has been recently arwarded as a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Village). Probably because of its breathtaking views and location (literally on top of a mountain).
It is the best spot to appreciate all the Costa del Sol and also the Natural Park of Montes de Malaga. Comares is a typical white Andalusian village with Arabic origins. It has been an important village over the years because of its strategic position, not only in Muslim period but also in the Christian one.
We will pick you up and will take you firstly to La Zorrilla. You will see how time has stood stil in this particular hamlet and learn about its interesting history. Afterwards we will head to this Comares, with great views over the Axarquia area that will take your breath away. Once there, we will start the guided walk and will visit its most important and beautiful corners.
Then, (optionally) we will meet Antonio, a local man, and its lovely donkeys. These noble animals have been used traditionally to help in agriculture and transportation, but nowadays are an endangered species. Antonio owns 8 donkeys and we can take a walk with some of them. This way you will have the chance to discover why they are so incredibly kind and sweet and you will be helping Antonio to maintain its donkeys.
