Description and itinerary
We will pick you up in Nerja or Torrox-Costa and take you to discover one of the most beautiful hikes in the Natural Park Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama.
As soon as we arrive at Canillas de Aceituno we will start our hike to El Saltillo.
You will be impressed by the stunning views of all the mountains, we will pass by olive tree plantations and see the traditional vegetation of the Natural Park.
We will get to the famous hanging bridge of El Saltillo, we will cross the bridge, make a stop to recover and then we will come back by the same path to the village.
The hike in total is around 8 kms and the difficulty is intermediate-high, you need a decent physical condition to do it. It will take around 3 hours to complete the hike.
Once we come back to the village we will visit Canillas de Aceituno, a beautiful white village.
After the walk in Canillas you will have time to have lunch in a local restaurant where you can enjoy the delicious gastronomy of the Axarquía area. We recommend that you try the famous “Chivo de Canillas” (baby goat), this is the specialty of this village and if you want to try it we should book it for you in advance.
If you like nature, adventure, traditional villages and delicious food this is a great experience that you shouldn’t miss.

It takes around 3-4 hours in total to complete it. Around 8-10 kilometers.
Is the hike dangerous?
It has medium difficulty. People in good shape will have no problem, but we do not recommend it if you are very afraid of heights.
