Description and itinerary
This tour is a nice combination of history, white villages and wine.
One of our favorite white villages in La Axarquia is Competa, located in the mountains at the east of Malaga. This small village is well known for its wine, its moorish past, and the stunning views of the mountains, countryside and Mediterranean sea.
Our guide will pick you up around 9.30 am and will drive you through the mountains while you enjoy the amazing views.
Once in Cómpeta, you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour with our local expert and guide, and you will learn everything about the history, traditions and culture. You will also have the chance to buy local products like delicious honey and olive oil.
Next, we will visit a family-run traditional winery where you’ll discover how Malaga’s famous sweet wines are made. You’ll see the equipment used and learn about the production process.
This winery has been owned and run by the same local family for four generations.
After the guided visit we will taste 4 wines, including dry and sweet and made by Muscatel Alexandria and Romé, the traditional grape variety from this area. One of the muscatel wines you will taste cellar was served at the wedding of King Felipe IV and Queen Letizia.
The wine tasting is paired with cold tapas made from local products.
